Code of Conduct
The code of conduct ("Code") describes what ASML stands for and believes in. The purpose of the Code is to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, as well as ASML's norms, values and standards. The Code does not provide detailed rules for each situation we may encounter, but serves as our guide in day to day proper behavior. This Code helps us to make sound, ethical decisions that are in the best interest of all ASML stakeholders. We also developed a booklet named “Code of Conduct and Business Principles” which provides further guidance each core value of our Code of Conduct.
Speak Up Policy
ASML has a Speak Up Policy for reporting issues with respect to the Code of Conduct, including ethics complaints of a financial nature (Whistleblower's Policy). Please use the link in the left section of this page to go to the Speak Up Policy.
Responsible Corporate Citizenship
Through our employees, shareholders, customers, and suppliers, we interact with and operate our businesses in many different communities worldwide. We develop leading-edge imaging solutions, and thereby contribute to the technological advancements and modernization of society. As one of the many participants on the global playing field, we believe in acting as a responsible corporate citizen. We therefore:
Electronics Industry Citizen Coalition (EICC) Code of Conduct
ASML conducts business on the basis of fairness, good faith and integrity, and expect the same from parties with whom ASML does business. ASML decided to become a member of the Electronics Industry Citizen Coalition and adopted the EICC code of conduct, please read our EICC Commitment Letter which can be downloaded below. The EICC is a coalition of the world’s leading electronics companies working together to improve efficiency and social, ethical, and environmental responsibility in the global supply chain. The EICC code of conduct provides guidance in four critical areas of CSR performance: Labor, Health & Safety, Environment and Ethics. These 4 elements shall be supported by a management system.
The EICC code of conduct includes, amongst other things, standards for human trafficking and slavery.
As a member of the EICC we also further cascade the requirements of the EICC in our supply chain. ASML’s major suppliers are therefore expected to acknowledge the Electronics Industry Citizen Coalition (EICC) Code of Conduct and to actively pursue conformance to the Code.
ASML personally, not through a third party, carries out initial verifications of those suppliers, including regular announced audits, to evaluate compliance with EICC Code of Conduct. If suppliers fail to acknowledge the EICC Code of Conduct or fail to meet ASML underlying sustainability requirements a non-conformance report will be defined and ASML will engage its supplier to address and close the non-conformance with appropriate priority.
ASML Procurement Managers, with direct responsibility for supply chain management, received initial EICC Code of Conduct compliance training including training on how to assess and mitigate the risks thereof. Failure to follow the procedures set out in this training may result in disciplinary action.
