ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment. Headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, ASML employs more than 21,000 people.
Our Manufacturing and Planning (M&P) department is responsible for assembling, building and delivering all our systems from the prototype stage onwards, as well as supporting the installation of completed systems at customer sites.
Each new system generation throws up new manufacturing questions. As part of Manufacturing and Planning, it will be your job to solve them. That could be working out how best to build completely new components, drawing up new manufacturing procedures or analyzing and improving existing processes. While doing that, you still have to ensure each module is available at the right time for system integration. So you need a thorough understanding of the parts that make up a system and the ability to identify potential bottlenecks.
M&P plays a central role in our organization, working with all the other departments. You could be helping D&E review new designs for manufacturability, creating outsourcing ‘shopping lists’ for Supply Chain colleagues or giving a training session for the Customer Support team installing and maintaining a new system. Today, you might be in our extensively equipped clean room. Tomorrow, you’re with a customer on the other side of the world.
With around 200-250 new systems shipped each year, you have to have a strong focus on the customer. In the world of lithography, while specifications may change frequently, shipping dates must still be met.
