Job Mission

The main challenge of ASML is to make it possible to produce smaller chips with a higher accuracy and speed. To establish this, ASML machines are continuously improved on positioning requirements of mechanical devices and machine throughput. The mechanics of the machine play a key role in the achieved performance. Their designs are on the edge of what is possible and every detail is important. Over 400 mechanical engineers are working on these challenges.

As the components in the lithography machines are becoming more complex, new manufacturing processes are needed. One of the possibilities is the use of 3D printing (additive manufacturing –AM) processes like Selective Laser Melting (SLM) in titanium or stainless steel. By using SLM, components with complex shapes and integrated functions can be obtained.

Job Description

Firstly, you will contribute to the release of Titanium Grade 5 for SLM to be used in a cleanroom environment. Secondly, you will contribute to the release of Stainless Steel for SLM.

To reach these goals you will:

  • Validate and optimize existing test procedures and the measurement setup (repeatability and reproducibility).
  • Perform cleanliness and material (leak tightness and particle) tests on dedicated parts according to your optimized procedure.
  • Statistically process the test results and make a report.

Education

You are a (HBO) bachelor or master student in Mechanical Engineering or related and you are looking for either an apprentice or graduation internship. You have strong affinity with additive manufacturing and have some experience in statistics. Furthermore, you have good communication skills and a hands-on attitude. You have good knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written.

As mentioned, this is both an apprentice or graduation internship with duration of 3 to 6 months. The start date of the internship is between now and March.

Please keep in mind that we can only consider students (who are enrolled at a school during the whole internship period) for our internships and graduation assignments.
