Physics is at the heart of everything we do. Making microchips cheaper, faster and more energy-efficient means our physicists are pioneering the way - creating 32 nm features using light waves of 193 nm. That's like drawing an extremely fine line using an oversized marker, and they're making it possible.

A wealth of opportunities
You could be designing, specifying and qualifying new optical components, investigating excimer lasers or creating new types of metrology sensors. Alternatively, by applying surface and interface physics, you could be solving contamination issues. Or you could be drawing on all your physics knowledge to help improve the imaging, overlay and productivity of our tools, or to qualify and optimize processes for our customers. The list is almost endless.

Working at ASML is all about generating real, tangible results for our customers. It's also about thinking ahead. There's often a strong emphasis on physical modeling using data from ASML and our customers. The physical concepts may not be new (e.g. imaging using extreme ultraviolet or immersion optics), but making them work in commercial IC production is truly groundbreaking.
