Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of ASML products.
In this sector, the department Software Test & Integration (SW T&I) specifies, executes and controls the testing and integration of the software of various subsystems into a complete software release.

Position in the organization: This position is in the Software Test & Integration Department, which is part of the Software Cluster in Development & Engineering. The Software Test engineer reports to the Software Test Group Leader.
Key interfaces are the other test domain members, the test domain architect and the software product test architect.

Job Description

ASML continuously improves the Lithography scanners by releasing new software. As Software Test engineer you are responsible for ensuring no regression occurs at customers with the new software to be released and increase the test coverage based on identified gaps, issues seen at customers and new ASML functionality.
The test team is organised in multiple test domains, each with a focus on specific aspects of the software such as Installation, Interoperability etc. Each domain consists of ~8 engineers, working according to Agile principles.
The test engineers in each domain are responsible for defining, implementing, automating and executing the test cases to qualify new software, and analysing the results in case of failures.
The test cases are implemented in Python and RobotFrameWork, and are used in our in-house test scheduling system.
We are currently expanding the Configuration and Options domain. This domain is responsible for testing the core functionality of the machine and the right combination of options. The lithography scanners can be customized with literally hundreds of software and hardware options, so testing all possible combinations is not feasible. However many options are orthogonal, while some are closely related; taking this into account the number of configurations that needs to be tested to reduce the risk of undetected issues significantly reduces. In this domain you will have to understand existing and newly delivered options and how they might affect each other. Affinity with hardware systems is a plus.
As Software Test engineer you will be working in a Software release project, that integrates new software deliveries from the entire D&E software organization, and prepares it for handover to Customer Service (CS) for installation at customers. Occasionally for high risk beta testing, the test engineer can accompany CS to customer sites. The domain lead determines the priorities from multiple release projects.


- Bachelor or Master degree;
- Degree in Computer Science, or similar with software testing affinity;
- Relevant test related training (e.g. ISTQB Advanced).


- At least 5 years of experience with software development and testing, with a minimum of 3 years in system level testing;
- Experience in working in an Agile development or testing team;
- Experience with Python.

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.
