In Wilton, CT, ASML seeks a Senior Optical Engineer 1 to work in its Optical Sensors & Metrology Development Group US with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to define, develop and support optical/photonic sensor systems and/or test equipment used in ASML’s photolithography and/or metrology equipment; using optical engineering/physics knowledge and an understanding of lithography/metrology equipment, work with a sustaining engineering team to find the root cause of difficult problems (optical sensors, laser sources, detection electronics) and solve them in a structural manner; support systems in the factory and at customer sites; support the factory and customers to quickly contain problems while structural solutions are developed; work with a design team (responsible for product or test equipment development) to find solutions to difficult technical problems in an efficient manner; derive specifications for module, sub-module, or test equipment; develop alignment methods for complex optical sensors and systems and tooling and test equipment to support optical sensor alignment methods; prepare leading system engineer documentation; prepare or support the preparation of design reviews for the development team; support the integration of new sensor designs into ASML’s platforms; and clearly communicate progress to senior management.Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Physics with an emphasis on optical system design and analysis and 2 years of industry experience in optical module development and/or sustaining engineering support for complex optical systems; direct hands-on experience in the design, integration and testing of optical systems or test equipment used to produce optical systems; strong written and oral communication skills; knowledge of optical design theory, lasers, polarization, detectors and electro-optical devices; ability to lead a multidisciplinary group of engineers, work effectively in a team, follow through and keep multiple simultaneous assignments on schedule; and up to 20% domestic and international travel required.Apply online at www.asml.com.EEO/AA (W/M/Vets/Disability) employer.
