Job Mission

Founded in 1984, ASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or chips. ASML has its R&D and manufacturing operations in Wilton, Connecticut and in Veldhoven, the Netherlands. The Development & Engineering Department in ASML Wilton office is currently searching for a talented software engineering manager. ASML’s lithography machine computing architecture is a hybrid using Linux, Unix and VxWorks. A typical machine is supported by a large scale software architecture of 20 million lines of embedded C, C++ and Python code.

Job Description

-Competency development:
Shape the way the team develops software.
Develop required expertise to meet current and future needs.
Identify training and hiring targets to meeting competency needs.
Develop hiring strategy, review resumes, interview candidates to fill competency gaps in team.
-Resource planning:
Allocate staff to projects to support project and program deliverables.
Participate in program level planning based on availability of staff and competency.
-Manage risks and customer requirements:
Identify technical and quality risks based on input from architects and design engineers.
Develop long term strategy to reduce technical and quality risks.
Hold regular meetings to provide information to team and maintain a transparent organization.
Communicate status and issues to direct and higher level management through formal and informal channels, escalate issues when appropriate.
-Individual management:
Provide coaching to individuals and groups.
Set example for team of proper work ethic, technical knowledge, and interpersonal skills.
Identify individual performance issues and develop corrective actions.


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.


-Experience leading engineering teams .
-A solid grounding in Computer Science fundamentals.
-Embedded C/C++ software development experience.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-A passion for programming and software engineering.

The following qualifications are a plus:
-Deep technical expertise.
-Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field.
-A deep understanding of software development in a team.
-Proven record of delivering complex software for a high tech company.
-Knowledge of VxWorks, Unix and Linux.
-Experience with C/C++, Python, Perl, Java.
-Experience with clearcase and clearquest.
