The Laser Light Generation and Positioning department creates solutions for measurement and control of high power laser systems in our EUV source. Within this department, two new high speed data acquisition boards are being developed. These boards are connected to a control system using a dedicated (custom) serial link. In order to successfully deploy these boards and add protocol extensions to the serial link, a tool is needed to monitor and analyze link traffic.
In this assignment you will:
1.Create (VHDL) firmware for a packet sniffer using an Intel Arria-10 FPGA. Packet data to be stored in on-board DDR-4 memory (hardware is available);
2.Create C code for an embedded processor on the same FPGA to control this packet sniffer;
3.Create C code for an embedded processor on the same FPGA to act as a replacement for certain functions of the controlling system in the original setup;
4.Create a Python or MATLAB PC based application to retrieve the data from the packet sniffer and perform a basic analysis of the captured data;
5.Create a KT user manual for use of the developed packet sniffer.
Your work will be used to integrate, analyze and debug existing systems and will also be used to verify correct implementation of new protocol extensions.
You are a Bachelor graduation or Master apprentice student in (Digital) Electronics, with an affinity for embedded processors and C, Python and/or MATLAB. You have a background with FPGA. Furthermore, you enjoy working in an international team in a highly dynamic environment. The English language is required, both written and verbally.
This is an apprentice or graduation internship for 5 days a week with duration of a minimum 4 months. The preferred start date will be a.s.a.p.
Please keep in mind that we can only consider students (who are enrolled at a school during the whole internship period) for our internships and graduation assignments.
