Computers and mobiles are all around us. Each year the speed of microprocessors improve and size of memory increases. ASML products are key in enabling this progress. ASML builds lithography systems that can place multiple layers on a chip with very high precision and accuracy. The so-called overlay demand for this layer-to-layer positioning is determined by the design of the chip and needs to be better with each generation of scanners.. To setup the scanner for the required overlay performance, an extremely accurate ‘ruler’ is needed (sub-nanometer accuracy). The development, implementation, industrialization and continuous improvement of this reference is the mission of the Overlay Reference & Control group. Here all overlay aspects of a scanner are at play. Are you able to bridge the gap between detail and overview? Will you propose the bright design solutions with impact on our next generation machines? Will you be able to balance a robust reference design with other critical requirements?
As a Design Engineer Overlay Reference & Control you help to create the references and an average day may look like this:
You align with your team leader and architect on priorities and possible escalation support. You also discuss the next steps how to make the design more robust and efficient.
Later that day, you collect the latest measurement results from the test setup you designed and programmed to isolate the impact of wafer table clamping on the reference. Don’t forget to prepare the presentation for the comparison between the theoreticaland empirical results. You will need to convince your stakeholders of your design-change proposal.
- Deliver the most accurate overlay ruler
- Support the internal and external customers in solving issues
- Contribute to ASML’s overlay roadmap
Technical University MSc or PhD, in physics, mathematics or similar
- Expert in Matlab
- Statistical data analysis
- Affinity with experimental physics
- Experience in the semiconductor industry
- Solid understanding of scanner knowledge in the area of machine overlay
- Creation and executing test in the clean room
- Creativity, initiative, discipline and team spirit.
- Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic and pro-active attitude.
- Good communicational skills and good command of the English language.
Context of the position
Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The department Overlay Performance is responsible for development, delivery, integration and qualification of functional modules & machine/customer applications on specifications, within time and budget in the areas of overlay. You will be working in a multidisciplinary project team, in a dynamic and high-tech environment.
