Logistics & supply chain management

Are you an analytical skilled Master student in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management? Then we are looking for you!

Job Mission

The ASML Twinscan Factory (TF) produces the ‘work horse’ systems for the production of our customers. The logistics department within TF is responsible for the in-factory-logistics, and so ensures in time delivery of parts to work centers. To do so it both plans materials up front by production planners (~25 FTE) as well as physically deliver these from outside warehousing to the front door of the production centers by material handlers (~35FTE). Another 3 FTE are present for continuous improvement (CI) projects. You would receive guidance by one of the CI specialists and have the opportunity to report findings and recommendations to the manager of Fab Logistics.

Job Description

This assignment both concerns an opportunity to explore and a problem to focus on.

The opportunity is the opening of a new logistics center at the end of 2020. This is currently not planned to have much impact on the department as it mainly concerns a different location on the ASML campus instead of an outside warehouse. Current delivery is 11,5 hours for normal deliveries, 2 hours for emergencies. The new location might help to reduce delivery time. It is worth investigating if this could be beneficial for the important performance parameters of the department.

The problem that could focus this research is the variability in its processes and the peak loads it is currently experiencing. Looking at both inside and outside processes, it is worthwhile to investigate what drives/contributes to this variability and how it could be reduced. Either with or without the use of the new logistics center.

You are a Master student in Logistics, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
You are an analytical skilled student and able to translate verbal and written information as well as (SAP) data analysis to a representation of the current status. You have modelling and mathematical skills to envision and simulate improved to-be scenarios. Effective communication skills to elaborate and convince others of his/her findings are required. This is a graduation assignment for 5 days a week with a duration of 6 months.

Please keep in mind that we can only consider students (who are enrolled at a school during the whole internship period) for our internships and graduation assignments.
