In the Cymer Light Source (CLS) division in San Diego, we design and manufacture Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) lasers, used directly in the chipmaking process. Far from a basic “consumer” laser, these machines are complex, powerful, and flexible. The lasers we make require: durable and high-speed precise motion-controlled optics to maintain wavelength to femtometer accuracy under high laser powers; advanced materials to endure the harsh Fluorine-rich environments and high powers; clever mechanical designs to allow high performance and fit all the parts within a confined space, but still allow easy manufacturing and servicing; very fast high power electronics and electrical designs to deliver short high voltage pulses at precise timing to control pulse energy within hundredths of a percent; gas flows at hurricane speeds to keep the laser discharge area clear; cutting edge controllers and algorithms to deliver stable and consistent performance and automate all operations; and advanced real-time electronics, firmware and software to control the laser and interact with other equipment. The laser needs to minimize use of expensive or rare resources like energy or Neon gas. It needs to actively control temperatures, pressures, gas concentrations and voltages precisely to maintain good performance. It must react instantly to changing customer demands and environmental conditions. And it needs to do all of this, operating continuously and reliably for months while producing billions of perfect light pulses, without any human intervention or downtime.

Job Mission

You will be part of the Product Marketing team within the DUV light source business within ASML. This role will be based in San Diego. The role will require innovation as well as all the fundamental product marketing disciplines and responsibilities applied to the light source products as well as a suite of services that comprise the entirety of the Cymer Light Source business unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to understanding our market segment, defining new products and services, working closely with engineering and ASML marketing through development and launching products to market, creating and refining product collateral, representing the products and services to customers all with the goal of meeting our market share and financial targets.

Job Description

  • Identifies new product and upgrade opportunities based on deep understanding of customer (chipmaker and ASML) technology needs and detailed technical requirements as well as market analysis
  • Works closely with ASML and Cymer marketing and product management teams to ensure Cymer’s roadmap is well aligned with the needs of our customers.
  • Works closely with Cymer program managers on key development projects, often acting as the sole marketing representative on the core team responsible for developing the product or program.
  • Develop and maintain Market Requirements Specifications (MRS) to clearly capture and define the product or service business opportunity
  • Develops product penetration strategy as part of the product introduction plans, including direct customer and chipmaker value propositions
  • Develops and maintains collateral for both new and existing products
  • Provides product positioning training and materials for account managers, field marketing, and field service engineers
  • Maintains regular communications with direct customers and chipmakers to explain product roadmap, describe new product features & benefits, and coordinate customer technical interface meetings with top accounts
  • Increase Cymer’s knowledge of customer roadmaps, plans, processes and challenges supporting competitive analysis, Works closely with field marketing and product marketing to provide account and field service teams with collateral to respond to competitive threats
  • Works closely with various organizations to define a compelling product roadmap
  • Acts as key interface with account teams for product and technical inquiries and acts as primary local point of contact for new product evaluations – providing technical guidance to the product development group and account team on customer specific introduction strategies
  • Performs other duties assigned.

Education

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
  • Prefer candidate to hold a Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work related experience
  • Prefer minimum 5 years of front end semiconductor processing technology experience required, photolithography experience preferred
  • Prefer minimum 5 years’ experience in semiconductor capital equipment product marketing, product management , field marketing or applications with a proven track record of successfully bringing products to market
  • Experienced in developing product value propositions through deep knowledge of impact to customers.
  • Excellent knowledge of collateral creation, particularly with PowerPoint skills, to convey concise and unambiguous messaging
  • Experience in defining market needs based on deep understanding of customers, applications and products

Context of the position

There will be travel required as needed to support the designated customers. This Marketing Manager reports to Head of Product Marketing in San Diego.
