This role will focus on process development and implementation of manufacturing technologies for ceramics and glasses. These technologies will support new product introduction for high precision stages, clamps and chucks. The Materials Engineer serves as a subject matter expert related to the optical cleaning technologies used in optical materials and complex components for semiconductor lithography equipment.
Bachelors, MS degree or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Solid State Physics or related field, or equivalent experience.
-2+ years of industry/academic experience.
-Materials characterization using SEM/FIB, TEM, XRD and various chemical analysis techniques.
-Fundamental understanding of mechanics of materials to execute tribological measurements using nano indenter to determine hardness, modulus, wear and friction.
-Sample preparation for microstructural examination: polishing lapping, plugging.
-Characterization of surface molecular contaminations and failure analysis.
-Glass wet or dry etching experience.
-Glass or ceramic lapping or polishing experience.
-Laser ablation or laser micromachining knowledge or experience.
-Flatness measurements using phase shift interferometry.
-White Light Interferometry experience (WLI).
-Expert knowledge of MATLAB and/or LabVIEW for data collection and analysis.
-This position requires a solid materials science knowledge of some of the following subjects such as:ceramic and glass microstructures, glass polishing, ceramic lapping, interferometry, crystallography, materials characterization, mechanics of materials, failure analysis, fractography, optical materials, thin film deposition and characterization, hard coatings and tribology.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail oriented, results focused and hard worker. Selected candidate will be able to interface with multidisciplinary groups and work effectively in a team and be willing to take on responsibility.
