Job Description

This role will focus on process development and implementation of cleaning technologies for ceramics and glasses. These technologies will be based on multiple surface science and spectroscopic techniques to support new product introduction for high precision stages, clamps and chucks. The Senior Competence Engineer serves as a subject matter expert related to the optical cleaning technologies used in optical materials and complex components for semiconductor lithography equipment.


Bachelors, MS degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or related field, or equivalent experience.


-2+ years of industry/academic experience.
-Practical knowledge of various optical component and/or wafer cleaning systems.
-Hand on experience with cleanliness testing and analysis in relation to particulate contamination (air borne or aqueous systems).
-Hand on experience with surface quality inspection of wafers and optical components using high intensity specular illumination UV or visible.
-Knowledge and experience working with surface science and spectroscopy techniques including AFM, SEM-FIB, EDS, XRF, XPS, RAMAN, FT-IR operations and capability to process or use data.
-Experience in surface preparations for various thin film coating technologies such as PVD, CD or ALD.
-Analysis and characterization of thin film, i.e., thin film defect analysis caused by poor surface preparation.
-Experience with applicable quality tools such as FMEA’s, SPC, histograms, trend analysis, process mapping, design of experiments, cause and effect diagrams.
-A solid materials science knowledge or chemistry related to surfactants, colloidal systems as it relates to optical cleaning processes is required.Expected to work as a part of highly skilled group of engineers and technicians.
