In Wilton, CT, ASML seeks Design Engineer 3 to integrate “off-the-shelf” robotics into capital equipment, developing all related aspects such as dynamics, end effector design, and controls with the cross sector team; design custom mechatronics systems, including translating stages, linear motors and sensors; be responsible for “sustaining engineering” tasks, resolving equipment design issues in a timely fashion as they arise at customer sites; participate in concept design studies for next generation equipment and subsystems; create budgets and definitions for new tools and create Electronic Design Specification (“EDS”)/Elements Performance Specification (“EPS”) at medium to high complex building block level; perform verification of EDS and EPS content; interface with other projects and System Engineering (“SE”); serve as technical deputy to project lead; occasionally interface with Product Management and cross-sector teams; make decisions within team related to own complex tasks on project level and direct interfacing modules; lead small technical teams and cross-sector team members in a matrix organization, including potentially at customer locations and/or during travel; and take direction from ASML system architects and senior engineering mentors who are leading the development effort of critical large capital equipment.Ph.D. degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a closely-related field; mechatronics engineering background or specialization in closely-related areas such as robotics or other fields; knowledge of and/or experience troubleshooting legacy designs to determine potential risks, failure modes, and corrective actions; basic knowledge of and/or experience with mechatronics behavior predictive modeling and methods, including “first principle” engineering equations and other techniques; strong skills in proof of concept development and design of experiments for a wide range of project needs; knowledge of and/or experience running complex mechatronic systems for test and qualification of design changes; knowledge of and/or experience deriving conclusions from analysis and to make practical recommendations; strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to present results based on strong statistical evidence to audiences of a wide range of technical abilities; and between 10-25% domestic and international travel required.Apply online at www.asml.com.EEO/AA (W/M/Vets/Disability) employer.
