In San Jose, CA, Hermes Microvision seeks Design Engineer 2 to conduct multiple designs/studies with a high efficiency and error-less quality; design and optimize multiple cabinets for power supply or other electronic engineering modules by NX or Solidworks; consider structural strength, IP32 protection, interface with system, movability, accessibility, thermal, air-flow requirement, material selection, safety, cable routing, dynamic links, and industrial standards in the design process and ensure the product meets all design requirements and industrial standards; work on PCB layout generation, PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) design, electronic component placement, volume management, and cooling design optimization (includes heat sink design, fan selection, and air-flow direction design); work on thermal analysis to optimize cabinet and module cooling design by STAR-CCM+ or ANSYS Fluent; develop performance test plan, build up experiment environment, and perform the airflow/temperature-profile measurement for cabinets and modules; compare the simulation and testing result to ensure the temperature prediction is accurate and the real temperature meets the specifications; build up prototype and revise the design to solve potential problems; work close to supplier to solve the potential manufacturing problems; review and refine connector-enclosure matching, shielding/grounding, mechanical noise reduction, cooling design, panel anti-scratching, anti-vibration, cable routing and safety of assembly; be familiar with ASML WoW (Way of Working) and document design rules and technical drawings, including EPS, EDS, and TPD; advise and point out potential mechanical problems (structural strength problems, thermal problems, safety problems, or volume manage problems) while performing design changes; and be familiar with UL 60950, SEMI S2, and ASML standards.Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; experience with 2D and 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) of complex products; experience using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics); experience designing electronic engineering module box, including PCB Layout generation, PCBA design, electronic component placement, volume management and thermal analysis; experience designing power rack and rack for other electronic engineering modules; solid technical knowledge and strong experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, mechanical design optimization, prototyping, testing, and safety; English fluency (both verbal and written); and up to 10% travel to Taiwan and the Netherlands required.Apply online at www.asml.com.EEO/AA (W/M/Vets/Disability) employer.
