In San Jose, CA, Hermes Microvision seeks Senior Design Engineer 1 to design the architecture and functions for new generation electron optics systems to meet performance specifications based on simulation results; integrate electron optics submodules and systems to platforms; test the functionality of electron optics modules and systems; characterize the performance of the electron optics systems; quickly implement and test new designs and solutions; modify electron optics system designs based on simulation and experimental results; document procedures and results of electron optics system integration, tests and characterization, and design modifications; optimize electron optics system performance and test procedures; diagnose complex system-level issues which involve electron optics, electronics, optics, vacuum, algorithm, and software; provide best practice procedures of electron optics system operation and methodology of system trouble shooting; provide input to new electron optics system specifications, areas of applications, system error budget, interfaces and working parameters for the optimum hardware/software solution; design architecture for the interface between electron optics system and firmware, hardware, and software; and propose and design new electron optics systems for performance improvement and new areas of applications.Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or a closely-related field; strong foundation in the fundamentals of physics and charged particle physics; deep understanding of electron optics, electronics, electromagnetics, optics, and mechanics; hands-on experimental experience with complicated electron optics or electro-optics system, using electronic controllers, optical components, detectors, and mechanical actuators; experience with the design, tuning and characterization of electron optics or electro-optical systems; experience with image processing, data analysis, and root cause analysis; strong diagnostic and trouble shooting skills in electron optics subsystems such as sources, optics and detectors; good communication and presentation skills; and approximately 5% domestic travel required.Apply online at www.asml.com.EEO/AA (W/M/Vets/Disability) employer.
