ASML, a market leader in the semiconductor lithography equipment, is looking to fill the role of Group Leader within the Functional group for the Wafer Alignment Sensor (WAS) Department in Wilton Connecticut.
The role will require managerial and technical leadership for a functional group working on the concept, analysis, development and delivery of functionality of intricate optical metrology sensor. We are looking for someone with a technical background, strong people leadership skills, and the drive and ownership to jump in and support product deliverables as needed.
This is a technical competence group where a complex engineering background and analytic thought are as important as inspiring leadership and people development.

This person will be part of the WAS department leadership team, report to the Department Manager.
The job requires a strong and accomplished leader to:
-Direct manager of a team of25-30 people who consist of engineers and scientists in relevant disciplines like optics, physics, electrical engineering, etc.
-Be responsible for people management and career development activities including on-boarding, mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
-Lead recruiting activities for the WAS department, and support recruiting activities for the WAS Department and the Wilton D&E organization.
-Take responsibility and ownership of the technology competence in optical metrology sensor functionality including organizing competence development (requires technical expertise), training, communication, and maturity management. Develop, organize and timely update materials to document sensor functionality.
-Support optical sensor technology and product development. Work with project managers and architects on technology road mapping, competence development, and structural problem solving;
-Lead the engineers to perform conceptual design, analysis, and development of new products and structural improvements to existing products.
-Work with multiple engineering disciplines and co-developers to ensure timely realization of competitive, serviceable products that keep the semiconductor industry moving forward.
-Build an organization of technical leadership and teamwork that offers employees the opportunity to excel their growth potential through active performance management, coaching, and structured people development on training.
-Supervise technical progress of the team and their technical presentations, and drive organizational solutions finding and resolving of technical issues with an empowered team.
-Lead initiatives to further improve the quality and efficiency of the organization.
-Support timely deliveries of the Wafer Alignment Sensor projects at the right quality, meeting specified performance.
-Be responsible for resource allocation, timely anticipating program staffing and competency skillset needs.
-Create a vision for the functional group and drive team for further development and maturity of the functional competency.
-MSc (or BSc with relevant experience) in Physics or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
-Advanced degree is preferred.
-Degree in technical management field (Management of Technology or Engineering Management) a plus.
-Professional with 4 to 10 years of industry experience in development of complex high-tech systems.
-Experience in multi-disciplinary technical team leadership / management including people & process development of highly educated experts.
-Strong leadership and ownership characteristics – demonstrated commitment to achieving results on time.
-Timely recognize project risks and structural issues; organize required infrastructure and supportfor the root cause investigations and problem containments.
-Strong written and oral communicative skills – ability to communicate effectively with the stakeholders on the different levels: team, program management, technology partners and customers.
-Strong quality orientation and highly developed interpersonal skills.
-Capability to interface with multidisciplinary groups (including senior leadership), and be willing to take on responsibility, follow through and keep multiple simultaneous projects on schedule.
-Be willing to own the integrated systems performance, and support the entire product life-cycle (development through sustaining engineering), strive to enable your team to deliver the right design solution for the right cost at the right time.
-Ability to inspire and coach individuals and groups to achieve career development and performance targets.
