Job Mission

We are currently looking to expand our Dose Control group within the EUV Source department with two new colleagues - a Senior Embedded Design Engineer and a Medior Embedded Design Engineer.

You are ambitious and determined to make things work. You’re eager to contribute to one of the core functions of our EUV machines. You will work on either our EUV Source or Dose Control, a function that exists to precisely control the amount of EUV light being used.

You are happy to collaborate with physicists on the design of the functionality you work on and you enjoy seeing the results of your code.

You are capable of understanding and explaining complex challenges and you can guide your colleagues in the implementation of the smaller parts that you identified.

You take pride in writing clean, high quality and maintainable code, regardless if you write that code in C, C++ or Python.

Job Description

You will be responsible for creating clear software specifications from functional specifications, breaking up complex functionality in smaller parts and leading your colleagues in the implementation.

You will be required to make efficient design choices but also to ‘make it happen' by contributing to the implementation and testing of that design.

You will use C/C++, Python, object oriented design programming and Linux within a highly complex embedded environment.

You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, involving physics, mechatronics, customer support and factory departments.

Customer satisfaction is the number one driver for ASML and therefore for every software engineer, you contribute to that by the quality of your work.


Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Embedded Systems or equivalent.


  • Between 2-8 years of experience in large-scale software applications - embedded programming.
  • Experience with deriving software requirements from functional designs.
  • Experience with software decomposition and leading software engineers.
  • Key competencies for this role are Unix/Linux, C, C++, UML, real-time, Python, and VxWorks.
  • Solid software engineering knowledge: Agile, Scrum, UML, OOP, design patterns.
  • Experience with Matlab integration would be advantageous.
