The holder of this position will be based in ASML Hillsboro (OR, USA), reporting directly to the Director US Applications, together with 2 peer US Application Managers based in Boise and Austin.

Job Mission

Applications Engineering – Creating Tomorrow’s Value: We pro-actively enable business development and drive customer adoption of a tailored portfolio of sustainable ASML solutions by applying our industry product and process knowledge in a collaborative learning environment. Our customers are moving further in holistic lithography, increasing the footprint for application scanner, metrology, and control solutions in Intel’s development and high volume manufacturing. This role is critical to bringing all the stakeholders together at ASML & Intel and driving the applications future for the US-Intel cluster. This is a position that will require strong ownership, care for quality, a strong customer intimacy and communication, and the ability to bring different segments together at ASML to drive the YieldStar roadmap at Intel.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

As Apps Manger, you will set the direction for the applications team, and in close collaboration with the business lines and account teams you translate the commercial strategies into operational execution for your teams and group leads, and ensure excellence in that execution. Thru your teams, you creating tomorrow’s value through new product introductions, ensuring delivery and validation of application and customer specific requirements for ASML’s new products. As a highly skilled communicator, you’ll be one of the key interfaces towards customer and headquarters, being able to oversee multiple competences, supporting customer’s node transition from research into volume sustaining support. You operate in the Customer Support segment, and collaborate with applications peers in the region and across the globe to develop and implement best practices with your teams, as well as with equipment peers on site to establish a OneTeam approach on the site. Talent development is high on your agenda, and you are able to guide and coach engineers and group leads into accelerated careers.

The job includes working together with various levels of internal ASML experts, such as Product Development

  • Managers, System Engineers and Projects Leads in Veldhoven, as well as Application Managers, Project Leads, Equipment Engineers, and Account Teams in the field.
  • Lead the Hillsboro / Chandler / Rio Rancho Applications Team (38 FTE) and execute account on-product applications strategy into operations (>250 mEuro Apps product config).
  • Leading local CS Applications organization by establishing strategic relations with our customers.
  • Coach and manage internal talents, group leads and project leads to accelerate their growth and execute succession planning.
  • Supports organization to set and achieve customer agreements.
  • Run performance improvement projects to increase business impact in cooperation with customers and translating the results into improvement specifications for ASML’s development department.
  • Contribute your knowledge of customer technology requirements to new development projects.
  • Define improved ways of working, and lead and drive towards solutions for structural issues.
  • Identify potential for revenue generation and promote/evaluate ASML solutions at the customer.
  • Drive implementation of the CS Applications Engineering community’s vision, mission & departmental initiatives.
  • Travel regionally and internationally (up to 30%).


MSc or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanics, Mathematics or a similar engineering degree, or equivalent experience.


  • 8+ years’ experience in an IC manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis and technical background on lithography and/or on-product metrology, of which a minimum of 3 years in leadership positions.
  • Experience in a commercial environment, university research group or research institute working on semiconductor manufacturing technology, preferably with experience in supporting readiness of a next technology node for high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in customer contact / customer service role.
  • Experience in coaching and developing technical experts and group leads to achieve results and customer intimacy.
  • Proven track record in setup and management of multiple projects on both detailed technical and high level abstraction level and put in place the methods required to bring them to successful results.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
