Introduction

This is an apprentice internship for a Bachelor or Master student with an educational background in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Design.

Job Mission

This internship is part of the Operations Strategy & Excellence Design department that is a staff department for the ASML operations sector. We support ASML’s operational organizations with decision making and looking at grander trends and themes to develop vision and strategies for the operations sector.

Job Description

Due to covid-19 our customer support organization was forced to accelerate the adoption of augmented reality (AR) to maintain our systems in the field. It is now interesting to take a bit of a longer term view on this technology and see how this fits in the context of our factories as well.
We assemble and test large lithography systems and especially during the assembly phase AR seems to be a good fit. We propose to look at it from 2 angles. The first would be evaluating the fit of this technology with our factory operators and investigating the technology from a user perspective. You can think about what kind of use case makes most sense and what needs to be in place for a good user experience from the operator. The other perspective would be exploring the technology from a business perspective and on a longer horizon; how it is likely to evolve and how it would fit in the suite of tools operators already use or that are going to be introduced in the coming years.

Education

You are a Bachelor or Master student with an educational background in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Design. Some interest in human machine interfaces, new technology and/or its implications for society in general and in a factory setting specifically would be preferred.

This is an apprentice internship for 3 to 6 months, depending on your schools demands, for at least 3 days per week. The start date is September 2020.
