Introduction

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

Job Mission

As a mechatronics designer your mission is to find the optimal design and work with the team to obtain the required results within the constraints of the project. It is your responsibility to translate our customers’ needs into quantifiable and measurable module specifications and bring the design to a fully operational function or module. You will do this from the required wide multi-disciplinary scope, putting your affinity with mechanics, electronics, software and firmware at your disposal.

Job Description

As Mechatronics Sr. Designer you are responsible for:

  • Functions (such as wafer exchange, wafer positioning, calibration sequences) and functional modules (such as wafer handler, wafer stage)
  • Specification, development, realization and qualification of mechatronic solutions
  • Deep-dive, when required, into the physical challenges of the module (dynamics, strength, protection, control, electro-magnetics, tolerances, thermo-mechanics, etc.) by making use of modelling techniques
  • Balancing of effort and cost against the available resources, budget and timing
  • A certain group competence or functional ownership in which you will develop yourself
  • Act as the bridge between mono-disciplinary teams to make the full system function

Our group is expanding and we currently have various positions in the group. This means that, depending on your current and short term future experience and interest, you can take ownership as either analyst, a functional architect but also as a module owner.

Education

  • 10+ years of relevant, work related development experience in an industrial product development environment
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience with FEM analysis is a plus
  • Working experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus, and will definitely be appreciated and enable a flying start
  • Experience with concept design to integration – full product cycle
  • Experience as the liaison between mono-disciplinary teams to make the full system function

Personal skills

  • Excellent communication skills. Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication. Ability to speak up in a respectful manner
  • Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
