ASML Berlin GmbH (formerly Berliner Glas GmbH) is a major ASML R&D and manufacturing site, with expertise in optics and wafer chuck technology. Over 1,200 employees work at ASML Berlin in Germany. They develop and produce several key components for ASML lithography systems, including wafer tables and clamps, reticle chucks and mirror blocks.

ASML is a leading supplier to the semiconductor industry. The company provides chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce the patterns of integrated circuits (microchips). Together with its partners, ASML drives the advancement of more affordable, more powerful, more energy-efficient microchips.

In our high-tech small production runs, single part and prototype production, you will support us in the high-precision manufacture of optical components, assemblies and systems made of glass, glass ceramics and ceramics.

Role and responsibilities

  • Process responsibility for CNC-controlled grinding of glasses, glass ceramics and ceramics, including their technological support

  • Managing and supervising process modifications and optimizations as well as appropriate monitoring measures

  • Further plant optimization and support with in-depth machining center troubleshooting

  • Providing technical project support for relocating series production processes to external service providers

  • Continual Improvement Process (CIP) and extending the Statistical Process Controls (SPC)

  • Managing projects to reduce manufacturing costs in series production processes (includes reducing reworking and scrap costs)

  • Supervising and providing technological support for acceptance projects from the

  • process and product development divisions

  • Specification preparation, procurement, commissioning and creating maintenance plans for manufacturing equipment

  • Preparing work instructions and instruction guidelines, which includes the training of manufacturing trainers and manufacturing staff

  • Design, improvement and accompanying introduction of new designs within manufacturing (e.g.: tooling, peripherals)

Education and experience

  • Successfully completed engineering degree (master/German diploma) or completed training as a cutting machine operator with specialized degree/technical training

  • Many years of practical experience in machining the above-mentioned materials

  • Experience in dealing with in-process measuring and inspection methods

  • Ideally, experience in the implementation of Six Sigma methods (e.g. SPC)

  • Independent, structured way of working

  • High degree of personal responsibility, diligence, resilience and flexibility

  • Very good analytical and communication skills

  • Good command of English
