Physics Internship: Sample preparation for EUV

Are you a Physics student with an interest in doing experiments? Do you have knowledge of material characterization? Then this assignment could be interesting for you.
EUV pellicles are thin films that protects the EUV reticle for dust particles. To reduce absorption of EUV light, they must be extremely thin.
EUV pellicles are extremely thin (<100 nm) films and have the size of a postcard. For the development of new pellicle generations extensive material analysis are performed. For many of the advanced analysis techniques the size of the pellicle film is too big or too fragile. Furthermore, the sizemakes it impossible to analyze multiple specific area of a pellicle. At the moment analysis is done on pellicle flakes which drastically limits our ability in material analysis.
In this assignment you will investigate different novel sample preparation methods to reliably make small sized pellicle samples that can be used in all advanced analysis techniques. You will show the feasibility of the different sample preparation methods and improve the method / setup.
You are a Bachelor or Master student with a background in Physics, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering. This is an experimental internship and therefore a hands-on mentality is required. You have knowledge of, material characterization and affinity with data analysis.
This is a Bachelor or Master graduation assignment or a Master apprentice internship for minimum 5 months. The start date is as soon as possible.
