Within Global Product Safety we ensure that ASML is developing products that are safe to use & comply to regulations and customer requirements. To achieve this goal the Global Product Safety team defines design requirements enabling designers in developing safe & compliant products.
The product safety engineer has a key role to ensure that these requirements are embedded in the newest designs. He/she works in close cooperation with hardware development projects for various product lines, being the sparring partner of Sr. designers on safety & compliance early in the design process, but also making sure during the product validation non conformities regarding human safety are absent.
Furthermore the product safety engineer is seen throughout the ASML organization as the principle competence on a specific risk topic, responsible for the policies and 2nd line support. He/she also liaisons with Product Safety regulatory & customer compliance office, making sure the safety requirements are meeting the most stringent product safety standards.

Job Description

As product safety engineer you expected to:
-Review designs on machine safety & product compliance
-Sparring partner of Sr. designers in the design phase
-Work directly with product team on strategic level to ensure product safety & compliance requirements are met
-Authority on a specific hazard area, keeping international knowledge up to date
-Responsible for the Safety policy document for specific hazard area: translation of international standards in specific ASML safety policies
-Supports and gives input to the ASML wide product safety compliance roadmap, creates product compliance certification (CE, FDA approval, SEMI S2 compliance, Safety manuals)
-2nd line support for competence organization, consultancy role towards competence leads
-Closely follow the evolving machine safety legislation and assess its impact on ASML
-Networking with peers in- and outside ASML (other industries) on safety and implementation issues
-Communicate relevant S&C information to all levels in the organization
-Analyze S&C elated issues, come to containment actions and/or solutions within legal frame work
-Manage information request both from internal customers as well as external organizations (e.g. customer requirements): e.g. share compliance reports and administrate the communication.
-Facilitate escalation process in case of non-compliance situation


-MSc/Bsc degree in technical studies and EHS studies


-Highly regarded professional expert on product safety, who conveys theories and practices of the professional field to experts and non-experts
->10 years relevant working experience
-Internally & externally recognized authority on safety knowledge,
-Knowledge of safety regulations (lasers, interlocks, chemicals, hoisting/lifting/transport, human safety/accessibility, electrical compliance, CE, ergonomics, EMC, etc.).
-Experience in multidisciplinary project vs. line work.
-Inspection & auditing techniques
-Extensive knowledge of Risk assessment techniques

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work.
