This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Job Description

This role will focus on process development for advanced wear resistance coatings, and their characterization using analytical, tribological and microscopical techniques. The Senior Coating Competence Engineer serves as a subject matter expert related to the wear resistance coatings used in manufacturing of high precision clamps and chucks for silicon wafer handling.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail oriented, results focused and hard worker. A solid materials science knowledge primarily related to wear resistant coatings produced by PVD, PE-CVD and ALD will be required. You are expected to work as a part of highly skilled group of engineers and technicians.

Education

Minimum B.Sc. in Material Sciences, Physics or other engineering disciplines, or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 2 years’ academic or industrial experience in coating or other vacuum operations.
  • Preferred PhD in Material Sciences, Physics or other engineering disciplines with more than 5 years’ industry experience specializing in wear resistance coatings, tribology including IBF or IBE.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in at least one of the following technologies, PVD, PE-CVD, IBF, ALD or IBE.
  • Characterization of coating tribological and microstructural properties.
  • Expert knowledge in testing techniques & equipment to evaluate friction and wear behavior of materials.
  • Experience in manufacturing process optimization and new product introduction.
  • Extensive experience in system integration and troubleshooting for vacuum chambers.
  • Extensive experience in verification and material characterization techniques like interferometer, microscope, SEM/TEM, AFM, White light interferometer etc.
  • Excellent analytical and experimental skills.

Role within the Factory

Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Can work under deadlines.
  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
  • Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule – twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.
  • This must include references to day and night shifts for accommodation purposes.
