Job Mission

In the position of System Electronics Architect, you deliver the high level electronic system architecture for complete lithograph systems. This architecture is balanced over all disciplines, taking into account functional and non-functional performance requirements, cost effectiveness, fit for the future and time to market for new systems, minimizing the risks. You do this in close cooperation with system engineering, systems architects from other disciplines and program management by leading (a team of 10-25) electronic architects responsible for the electronic architecture of subsystems. You organize the technical content such that you take the responsibility that the electronic system functions according to specifications and expectations by assuring proper validation of the system performance.

Job Description

As you are content wise the highest level representative of electronics development in a product development team you take care that the technical content of new product development is according to the guidelines and technology development roadmaps. On the other hand you make sure that you define feasibility studies and contribute to technology roadmaps to anticipate future product developments.
-Act as the EDEV representative in a multidisciplinary product system engineering team.
-Report/keep EDEV staff up to date on progress on the product
-Lead, define and organize the electronic architecture development with a team of electronic architects, make sure that the system requirements are covered and that risk are evenly spread over all modules and disciplines.
-Contribute to the system specification and define, document and maintain specifications of the system electrical architecture.
-Review the system level specifications of the other disciplines to secure feasibility of the electronics system.
-Define high level work break down packages towards the various electronics subsystems/projects.
-Make sure that verification tests are performed and reported in order to prove that the electronics system is performing according to specification and expectation.
-Contribute to the system roadmap and ensure that subsystem roadmaps are aligned with the system roadmap.
-Manage stake holders such that all information gets to the people who need it.
-Define and execute feasibility studies and trade-off studies to determine the optimal implementation scenario. Come up with well-considered choices and a preferred decision.
-Act as a technical coach for other architects.


Master degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent


-At least 10 years of experience in developing complex multi-disciplinary industrial products in a large organization.
-At least 5 years of experience as an architect in (new) machine concepts or large complex modules, leading a team of architects (>5 based on influence without power) and covering aspects like performance, layout, serviceability, manufacturability, safety, quality, install, etc.
-Solid background in electronics with knowledge of: sensors, actuators, power, drivers, EMC, mains, safety, control, computer systems, networking, communication, interconnect, thermal design, racks & cabinets. Basic knowledge of software, mechatronics and optics.

Context of the position

ASML’s Development & Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the specification, design and realization of all products in the ASML portfolio.
Within the D&E sector, the Electronic Development cluster is responsible for the definition, realization and qualification of electronic functions, modules, (sub)systems and infrastructures within these products.
