We are seeking a Proto Engineers to join our System Integration group. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that integrates, tests, verifies and release our systems for Development and Engineering (D&E). Our modules consist of an intricate network of process gases, high power lasers, optics, electronics, mechatronics, and control systems. In this hands-on position you will have the opportunity work with all of these components and become a system expert. You will be the key to building a better product though supporting the integration project and other development teams in the verifications of new functions and performance and provide the needed feedback to ensure the successful release.

Role and responsibilities

The Senior Proto Engineer is part of a team responsible for operating and maintaining test rigs used by D&E for the purpose of design qualification, reliability testing, and issue resolution of new modules and features that are intended to be introduced across all ASML TWINSCAN products. These include the following tasks:

  • Leading the technical training plans for all proto engineers.
  • Leading the adjustments and improvements to the training matrix and onboarding process.
  • Leading trouble shoot activities on proto systems
  • Initiating and leading large department improvement projects
  • Supporting TL and GL
  • An example to other PE’s in a broad sense, steering behavior of other engineers
  • Maintain and operate D&E test rigs.
  • Carry out and/or assist the integration, build in/build out, on test rigs.
  • Review and contribute to test plans to ensure efficient use of the test rig.
  • Provide technical support within test plans to other D&E engineers as a generalist.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and report issues in the module design to improve system performance.
  • Contribute towards an optimal design for the complete product and the creation of the product documentation necessary for pilot production
  • Monitor test rig performance within set parameters.
  • Keep test rig hardware and software configuration up to date
  • Transfer machine status and issue list to next shift via pass down
  • Knowledge transfer to other Proto Engineers and technicians in test rig operation and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure safe working environment and work according 5S principles

This position is located on-site in Wilton, CT.  It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.

Education and experience

Bachelor's Degree in engineering majors, e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics, Computer Engineering, with 4 years' relevant experience

Associate degree with 6 years' relevant experience

High School with 12 years’ relevant experience

Relevant experience as outlined above includes:

  • Experience and knowledge in operating and troubleshooting on ASML TWINSCAN platforms using the ASML diagnostic toolset such as SDT, BDT, Trace Viewer, PCS (Problem Cause Solution, Coach preferred.
  • Experience in advanced motion control, robots, thermal dynamics, optical devices, vacuum applications, or precision mechanics.
  • Relevant hands-on experience in a multi-disciplined technical team environment.
  • Knowledge of measurement systems and system functionality analysis preferred.
  • Testing experience within an R&E environment with complex Prototype systems.
