Job Mission

ASML is seeking an accomplished Competency Engineer to join the Wilton Factory EXE 5000 program. This person will be responsible for system level integration, supporting Wilton Factory complex tooling integration, procedures and building the first EXE 5000 systems. The Competence Engineer will be the liaison between Wilton Factory, ASML sites and Customer install teams, which will require interactions across functional groups and travel inter-factory to ASML customer sites worldwide for system installations. Ensure that training programs are created and train installation teams worldwide.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description


  • Planning: Set up a detailed production plan schedule, within the constraints of the Manufacturing and available team members. Ensure progress and plan execution. Solve problems, Follow escalation protocol, provide recovery plans, and inform relevant parties on deviations from plan.
  • Output: Realize the planned output of deliverables. Ensure that the level of know how and the training of the team members is sufficient to be able to realize all plans. Ensure all barriers to the daily plan, quality and part issues are recorded and reported.
  • Install equipment at customer's locations, including equipment with new features, unload components, inspect for damage, assemble, align and test. Analyze applicability, accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
  • Evaluate and diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs. Work with teams, customer & field support in isolating and solving problems.
  • Prepare written procedures and develop self as an affective trainer.
  • Can work flexibly, can accept overtime working, can accept shift working (day or night).
  • Quality: Ensure the quality of the output of Volume Production meets full product specifications: through effective production processes and sufficient know how/training.
  • Answer customer questions and assist customers in a professional manner.
  • Infrastructure: Ensure infrastructure to assure effective and efficient Volume Production tasks. Ensure the availability and proper use of effective production and qualification procedures and systems.
  • Cooperation: Support cooperation throughout cross-functional groups by: finding solutions and improving working concepts, giving input and feedback, and supporting the execution of all tasks and a good working environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Ensure incorporation of Lean Manufacturing concepts in the day to day operations. Support and promote an environment that improves efficiency by using 5S techniques, Kaizen events, and Six Sigma concepts. Facilitate continuous improvement and waste reduction efforts.
  • Communication: Good writing and verbal skills. Able to express complex issues in simple terms. Communicate daily with GLs / Manager, Program Management, Engineering and Logistics on the plan and the status at the start and end of the shift.

Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience.


  • Bachelors is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 – 5 years of operations experience in a highly dynamic mechanical/electrical work environment.
  • Know How of Production Management; Quality Assurance; and Improvement Techniques.
  • Purposive, analytical, enterprising, flexible.
  • Social skills to communicate at several levels, team builder, customer oriented.
  • Network to support difficult problems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite.
  • Previous work within SAP is a plus.

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Can work under deadlines.
  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature with moderate to high noise level.
  • Must be willing to work a compressed work week schedule – twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.
