Job Mission

As a Dangerous Goods Technical Competence Leader within ASML you are responsible to safeguard the focus on Dangerous Goods, to classify them and to make sure the definitions and classification are communicated cross-sectorally to ensure a safe and compliant process from design and engineering phase upon manufacturing and transportation.

Job Description

The Dangerous Goods Competence Leader will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the competence network structure and align with stakeholders
  • Reviewing early triggers of possible Dangerous Goods (DG) creation in the design process (PGP) (Engineering environment)
  • Working out possible scenarios during the PGP to check consequences of design decisions for DG, together with Competence Leads and Product Design Engineers
  • Leading DG-classification processes, when necessary with external partners (DG consultant and notified bodies)
  • Maintaining relationship with DG consultant, including contract(s)
  • Staying up to date on changes in rules and regulations with regard to Dangerous Goods and initiating adequate measures for the ASML organization (change of procedures, classification)
  • Master Data Management to validate if DG classifications are consequent over similar product groups
  • Maintaining DG attributes and documentation in Teamcenter, SAP and other IT systems
  • Helpdesk function to support organization (D&E, SCM, CS) on Dangerous Goods related questions
  • Communicating on Dangerous Goods related challenges and improvements

Education

  • MSc/Bsc degree in technical studies (preferably related to EHS or chemical technology, material science)
  • IATA certification and/or Hazcom certification preferred

Experience

  • More than 5 years relevant working experience in the high-tech industry
  • Overview on engineering processes, production organization, supply chain and customer services
  • Extensive knowledge about Dangerous Goods and Hazardous substances (compliance and legislation)
  • Industry, product and process knowledge
  • Experience in multidisciplinary project vs. line work.
  • Proven leadership in deploying company-wide projects
  • Extensive experience with Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP)

  • Takes initiatives to change procedures and systems and has good convincing skills to do so

Context of the position

You will operate within the Development & Engineering (D&E) Safety & Compliance department (responsible for supporting Global Product Safety & Compliance, Process Safety and Environmental Health & Safety at D&E). Because of this overarching responsibility and the link to other safety related competences (product design engineer, EHS), the role of Dangerous Goods Competence will be part of this department.

The Dangerous Goods Competence Lead reports to the Manager of D&E Safety & Compliance, and frequently interacts with team members of D&E Safety, and relevant members of the different sectors.
