In a nutshell

Veldhoven, Netherlands

No experience (Student)

Job Category

Computer science & software engineering

Are you a Bachelor or Master student in Software Engineering and have affinity with code-generation? Then this assignment could be interesting for you.

Job Mission

ASML’s complex machines are controlled by a large number of interacting software processes. This interaction (Inter Process Communication) is currently based on a proprietary protocol. As future machines or extensions may require parts (and accompanying software) from third party suppliers to be integrated, the need arises to bridge between this proprietary protocol and open standards such as CORBA. An implementation is currently under development which consists of many lines of handwritten code of which a large portion follows a repetitive pattern. Needless to say, this introduces both risk and cost which could be alleviated by automation.

Job Description

The goal of this assignment is to design, implement and test a mechanism to allow build-time generation of C++ code, based on a (CORBA IDL) interface-specification which eventually replaces the current handwritten implementation and supports future extensions.

You are a Master or Bachelor student with an educational background in Software Engineering. You should have sufficient experience with C++ and Object Oriented Design. Thereby, interested in inter-process communication, lexing/parsing and code-generation is a pre. You are comfortable to develop in and for a Unix environment.

This is an internship for 5 days a week with a duration of a minimum 6 months. The start date is in February 2021.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship
