Job Mission

As a Wilton D&E Cluster Quality Manager you take responsibility for the Cluster Quality Roadmap and for monitoring the Quality of the Development & Engineering (D&E) US Wilton deliverables. You and your staff drive Quality Improvements in Product Quality, Way of Working / Product Development Processes, Reporting, Tools, and Training. In this role you also have the opportunity to act as a change agent to help shape the Quality Management System, mindset, within the Development & Engineering organization.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Job Description

  • Define the Quality Strategy of the Wilton Development & Engineering Cluster, working together with Competence and Function owners who take operational responsibility within their departments and competences.
  • Develops, reviews and approves Quality Engineering objectives and creates plan of actions in alignment with the ASML Quality Organization.
  • Hires, retains, mentors and directs technically competent and engaged Quality Engineering resources to support the new product development (NPD), new product introduction (NPI), and Sustaining Development & Engineering teams.
  • Align Wilton Development & Engineering Quality Strategy with ASML D&E Global Quality roadmap and champion the Quality mindset.
  • Bring the Voice of the Customer into the Wilton D&E departments by providing feedback from customers, customer service, factories, suppliers to the department by using a feedback loop process.
  • Lead department quality in collaboration with other sectors (manufacturing, customer, support, etc). Engages, develops, and leads the D&E Quality Engineer group to support customer and internal business needs.
  • Directs resolution of Product Quality issues in Development & Engineering including effective correction, containment, root cause evaluation, corrective action, and risk assessment.
  • Establish a strong culture of bringing focus to Cost Of Non-Quality.
  • Detect issues and bottlenecks in the quality circle and drive their solution.
  • Enable the development staff to execute their accountability in Quality Control by maintaining and deploying department’s processes, providing regular reporting on process adherence to department managers, group leaders, and project leaders.
  • Execute process assessments on key processes to drive data driven process improvements.
  • Execute process improvement projects as part of the quality strategy at department level and/or sector level.
  • Drive for continuous improvement; drive engineers to find root causes of technical issues and translate them into lessons learned. Drive competence leads/owners to translate lessons learned into guidelines, design rules or process improvements.
  • Supporting, reviewing and coaching projects and their engineers on the quality of technical solutions proposed and deliverables produced.
  • Lead customer and ISO audits representing the Development & Engineering US Wilton Organization.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in Quality Engineering such as: Quality Risk Management and Risk Assessments, FMEA, design verification, equipment qualification, process validation, design transfer, configuration management, and change control.
  • Identifies relevant Quality-related Training needs and devises a Training Plan to support comprehension and consistent application.
  • Promotes Quality Achievement and Improvements throughout the organization.


Minimum bachelor degree, Master’s degree preferred in Applied Physics, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical, Quality, or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.


  • Demonstrated leadership skills in quality, project, and/or line management.
  • 5-10 years of work experience in complex technically-driven international organization(s) preferably with direct experience of mechatronic or optical system design and integration.
  • Experienced in quality methods and tools like e.g., 6 Sigma, value stream analysis, 5 Why’s analysis, Kaizen, brainstorming sessions, problem solving techniques, FMEA, 8D , Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Knowledgeable in international quality standards, process assessments and audits.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 based quality system, SEMI-standards preferred.
  • Strong Analytical Skills, Change Agent, People Skills, Broad Experience Base.
  • Preferable ASQ Certified (e.g. CQE, CSSBB, CMQ/OE, CRE, CQA).
  • Project/Program Management experienced (e.g. Risk Management).
  • Highly motivated, enthusiast, flexible and a good communicator.
  • Result driven, good organizational, planning and prioritizing skills.
  • Think broad, learn fast, take responsibility, act decisive and show critical sense.
  • Demonstrated management reporting skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with a pragmatic attitude.
  • Work in multidisciplinary team(s).
  • Proven quality management skills, black belt a plus (incl Six Sigma).
  • Drive for continuous improvement; making use of the lessons learned.
  • Hands-on, data-driven Problem Solver and a Change Agent with experience driving Continuous Improvement to Quality Processes, Technically savvy, assuring adherence to ISO 9001 standards, by managing a staff of Quality Engineers, working in a Matrix Organization.

The department DE US Wilton is responsible for specification, design, integration, qualification, industrialization and delivery of the Reticle Positioning, Reticle Handling, and Alignment Sensor functions and modules which fit into ASML end products and meet ASML business requirements.
