Are you a Bachelor or Master studentwith an affinity with Electronics and Software? Do you have knowledge of Communication Links? Then this internship could be interesting for you!

Job Mission

The machines ASML builds consists of hundreds of electronic boards that communicate with one another and exchange data to perform tasks synchronously. The communication is done over different mediums and using different protocols, including industry standard but also custom protocols. The ability to control and monitor these communication links becomes very important during different phases of machine development and troubleshooting. Such tools for the custom protocols and in-house technology are therefore also custom designed. Protocol analyzers are of great importance as they allow the users to view the relevant information in a user-friendly format.

The goal of this internship is to implement a custom serial protocol analyzer (in software) using the available hardware and software that already allows serial communication monitoring. You will receive specifications and required details on the communication protocol (think for example, I2C, Modbus).

Job Description

As a part of your assignment, you will:
• study the available tools to understand how they allow monitoring of serial communication;
• study the available software development tool to understand how protocol analyzers can be implemented;
• use the protocol specification document to implement the protocol analyzer with the available software;
• program additional features for enhanced user experience (for example: search, filter, trigger, etc);
• verify the implementation works as expected;
• document the design details, test results and information for the user.

You are a Bachelor or Master student with a background in Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation or Software Engineering. Knowledge on Communication links / tools is required. You are eager to learn and do not shy away from hand-on experiments. The English language is required.

This is a Bachelor or Master apprentice internship or a Bachelor graduation project for minimum 3 days a week with a duration of a minimum 5 months. The start date is as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.

ASML: Be part of progress
We make machines that make chips – the hearts of the devices that keep us informed, entertained and safe; that improve our quality of life and help to tackle the world’s toughest problems.

We build some of the most amazing machines that you will ever see, and the applications to run them. Never satisfied, we measure our performance in units that begin with pico or nano.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard. At ASML we are always pushing technology further.

Students: Getting ready for the real-world
Teamwork is key within ASML. Our R&D team is more than 5,500 people strong and worldwide we form one big team with over 25,000 employees. These colleagues have 123 different nationalities and work at our major sites on three continents.

Dozens of diverse, interdisciplinary teams work in parallel to meet a challenging development schedule. In this inspiring environment, your colleagues may be sitting next door, or they could be thousands of kilometers away in a different country, or even working for a different company.

An internship at ASML is your opportunity to get to know this world and get a feel for that excites you most. Use your education, gain real-life working experience and explore the world of high-tech – all at the same time.
