In the Engineering IT Software department we provide the development environment for large groups of software developers (>2500). These developers work on the software that controls our high-tech machines which are using some of the most advanced technologies on the planet. Next to continuous enhancement of the existing environment we are implementing a new set of state-of-the-art off-the-shelf tools (e.g. software build and pipeline management, source control management, artifact storage, etc.). We are expanding our teams to be able to deliver both the required enhancements and the new environment and are looking for a medior Build Engineer to complement the teams.

Implement, extend and maintain our software development environment in a blend of existing and new tooling solutions.

Job Description

As a Build Engineer you will be further developing and supporting the development environment as a member of an Agile team. With the team, you will be responsible for implementing new features, fixing issues and supporting users of the environment. You will closely collaborate with teams inside and outside of our Agile Release Train to deliver a stable and usable product.

Common tasks:

  • Extend and optimize build rules used in our build system;
  • Automating software build, test and integration processes;
  • Automating deployment, monitoring and IT management processes;
  • Automating processes for security and compliance requirements;
  • Develop and implement monitoring tools and platforms;
  • Develop, implement and migrate processes/products towards a DevOps model;
  • Develop and implement monitoring tools and platforms;
  • Design and develop deployment environments for C/C++/Python/etc.


As a Build Engineer you thrive in complex environments. With your pro-active and pragmatic mindset you’re a natural problem solver and have quality high in your standards. Being an Engineer with ASML means being both technical as well as feeling comfortable collaborating with (business) stakeholders throughout our business. Technically we’re looking for the following elements:

  • Experience with object oriented software development;
  • Experience with build tools, e.g. GNU Make and/or Bazel;
  • Experience with Source Control Systems, CI/CD Tooling, IaaS tooling and Container Technologies;
  • Experience with languages, e.g. Python, Ruby, Bash, Perl, Go;
  • Formal education should include Bachelor or Master level education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields. Also, you are well acquainted with software development and have relevant proven experience in large technical complex environments.
