Job Mission

System Integration Engineers engage in the design, development, and integration of complex EUV light sources. The Software and Computer Systems engineer in this team will support next-generation computer systems, machine control, and system software infrastructure for the creation and control of EUV light. S/he will need to be able to perform analysis, verification, and trouble-shooting on computer hardware and software. The engineer will also be responsible for data collection, data analysis, system integration and validation, debugging, issue resolution management, test plan development, test analysis reports, and remote and on-site field support for customer escalations.S/he will represent and serve as an interface in San Diego for the software and computer system design projectsbased in the Netherlands.

Job Description

  • Provide a broad computer engineering background to support issue resolution, create test plans, secure system test time, assemble test hardware, and perform validation testing
  • Attend project meetings and align with project development activities to support escalations. This sometimes requires early morning meetings (0700) to facilitate alignment and share knowledge/passdowns.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams of varying expertise/skillsets to understand and adapt to changing software and hardware demands as EUV Source technology evolves
  • Provide knowledge, procedures, and support to Integration, Customer Service, and Manufacturing teams
  • Represent ASML Netherlands development & engineering projects in San Diego
  • Review requirements, specifications, software release documents, issue resolution plans, test plans, and test reports with internal and external customers
  • Interacts closely with development engineers, scientists, QA engineers, suppliers, and other supporting teams to resolve quality issues
  • Assists with driving full documentation of any development/design deliverables, procedures, etc.
  • Receive knowledge from projects on new module and software releases
  • Recommend improvements to projects in regard to safety, reliability, availability, manufacturability, & serviceability
  • Travel to internal and customer sites (domestic and overseas) to receive training, provide training, trouble-shoot systems, etc. (<20%)
  • Work according to safety rules & report near misses and safety issues accurately & immediately
  • Effectively works & prioritizes activities with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Requires a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree.No experience required with a Master’s Degree, although some experience preferred.


  • Experience with computer systems and peripherals– NAS, FPGA, Logic controllers, blade severs, and Cisco and other networking devices
  • tftpboot/pixiboot experience is a plus
  • VxWorks experience is a plus
  • Experience with object oriented programming languages C/C++, Golang, etc.)
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language- Python, Bash, Perl, etc.
  • Proficient in Linux system administration. (RHEL6 though RHEL8)
  • Proficient in network system administration
  • Experience with version control software – svn, git, etc.
  • Experience with MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience in semiconductor equipment development a plus

Personal skills

  • Ability to translate and statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems through written and/or graphical formats
  • Ability to develop trouble-shooting guide/action plans
  • Flexibility in work schedule to support night or weekend shifts when needed
  • Ability to travel domestically/internationallyat short notice (<20%)
  • This position requires the ability to support off-hours/on-call phone support for escalation management

Context of the position

The EUV Source Team in San Diego operates in a fast-paced, uniquely innovative, and challenging environment to create new-to-industry solutions with rapid productization to support an aggressive commercialization plan for the EUV technology at semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.The Electrical, Safety and Software (ESS) Team within the Satellite project is responsible for the integration, qualification, and support of the basic system safety, electrical infrastructure and computer systems software.The complexity of the EUV Source puts exciting and challenging demands on the System Integration Engineer for Software and Computer Systems who will be engaged in integration and support while working under extremely challenging dynamic conditions to produce stable EUV light.
