The Mechanical Analysis department, which is part of Development and Engineering, supports the machine design process with CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) simulations and analysis.
With the continuously increasing design complexity and related number of simulations, the demand for an improved simulation data management, rises as well. SPDM (Simulation Process & Data Management) is a technology to manage CAE-simulation data. Having the simulation data managed should improve quality, enable traceability of results/decisions, increase throughput and enable future applications like big-data analysis, machine learning or digital twin.
Last year two competing suppliers have been involved in a PoC (Proof of Concept) to demonstrate the capabilities of their SPDM products. In order to commit to the investments required in the pilot/implementation phase, the business case for SPDM has to be setup.
You will define a method to assess the financial benefits of having an SPDM system and apply the method. The cost aspect is not (necessarily) part of this assignment. Assessing the added value of making simulation activities more efficient/effective is one of the challenges you can expect. You will involve in interviewing CAE-software users to effectively estimate the potential cost savings for each aspect of the benefits that SPDM can bring. For this, an insight in the workflow will need to be developed.
• You are a Bachelor graduation student with a background in Industrial Engineering or something related to Business.
• You have good communication and analytical skills.
• You will take the lead in defining and executing plans and activities.
This is a Bachelor Graduation internship for 5 days a week with a duration of a minimum 5 months. The start date is as soon as possible.
Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.
