Introduction

ASML customer satisfaction depends to large extent on meeting operational requirements e.g., availability, reliability, serviceability, maintainability, manufacturability, safety, compliance, costs, testability, re-usability, commonality, together summarized as DfX (Design for eXcellence). These requirements are positioned central in dedicated ASML Technical Competences. These Quality and Industrialization Technical Competences are now more or less standalone developing their own way-of-working, processes and handbooks.

Design for eXcellence (DfX) is an organized way to systematically address the operational requirements throughout product development. We are looking for an architect that will guide the embedding of the DfX way-of-working in our development processes. This job requires more than excellent technical ability alone, you also need the vision and leadership to inspire, convince and motivate others.

Job Mission

As an architect, you willdevelop the Development & Engineering (D&E) competence in the field of Design for eXcellence byenabling theintegration of operational requirements with the machine performance requirements, by implementing improvement way-of-working and by coaching engineers to achieve better quality of our DE solutions. DfX is a new area for many ASML engineers. That’s why, as an ASML DfX architect, you will not only need excellent technical skills but also the ability to network and communicate with many people in ASML to set steps towards embedding of a DfX approach in ASML Development & Engineering.

Job Description

Activities drill down to:

1. Describe the ASML DfX methodology with focus on standardization, simplification and synergy
2. Define & optimize the value of DfX for project teams and align with other improvement initiatives.
3. Identify the blind spots in the D&E processestogether with competence owners, and make a plan to fill the gaps.
4. Describe the implementation strategy.
5. Align methodology and strategy with main stakeholders such as Technical Competence owners, subject matter experts, senior line and program management.
6. Facilitate application in programs and projects by identification of low hanging fruit, set long term goals, get agreement on concrete steps, and drive active support.

Education

  • MSc or PhD. in a technical domain.
  • (Master) Black Belt – certification is a plus

Experience

  • 10+ years of work experience in complex technically driven and international organization(s)
  • Experience in High Capital, Low Volume markets is a plus.
  • Proven (senior) quality management skills (e.g. Six Sigma, reliability, availability)

Context of the position

You will report directly to the D&E group leader of the Development & Engineering Robust Design group. The primary internal interfaces are your colleagues in the DfX framework, Project Leaders and designers from the product development teams, as well as stakeholders in other improvement initiatives.

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification, design and engineering of the ASML products.

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.
