Introduction

Duration: 4 - 6 months

Background Information

Metrology orchestrates the behavior of powerful mechatronic modules, so that together they achieve an extraordinary combination of speed and accuracy. It’s basically the brain of ASML lithography systems. To make sure our customer can keep printing smaller and smaller features on chips using our machines, we need people who can help us create next-generation metrology products.

The Expose Sequence team is like the conductor of all the actions while exposing wafers. Taking into account all interdependencies are satisfied, and optimizing for maximum wafer throughput, while ensuring minimum impact to overlay performance (e.g. due to thermal or timing effects). The team consists of functional members who study and prototype for an optimized lithographic exposure sequence, and SW members who implement it (in C/C++).

Your Assignment

On the functional side we collaborate with other teams to create tooling that aid our development of future generations of machines. We currently have simple sequence simulator (in Python) that interfaces with tools from other teams (alignment and thermal simulators). Your main task will be to help improve this tool to make it more realistic and thus useful e.g. adding realistic stage movements and step timings, analyzing actual machine data to verify and guide improvements.

Your Profile

• You are a Bachelor graduation student or a Master first year student in Physics, Computer Science or Engineering.
• Python knowledge is required (e.g. used before as hobby or for data analysis).
• MATLAB experience is preferred.
• Enthusiastic about the technology and bringing your own innovative ideas to the table.

This is a Bachelor graduation project or a Master apprentice internship for 4 to 6 months. The start date is as of August 2021.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.
