Job Mission

As a Data Scientist, you will apply on the vast amount data collected from the fielded laser used in the production of microchips the data science technique such as machine learning, statistical, etc. to improve thelaser performance and improve the efficiency of various business operations.You will collaborate with system engineering, design engineers, field support engineers and business analysts.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

The Cymer Light Source team in San Diego operates in a fast-paced, innovative, and challenging environment to develop DUV lasers and support technologies to enable both current and future lithography generations. Our technological solutions deliver both new-to-industry products and important enhancements that improve performance and reliability and reduce costs. The projects are using data from the corporate databases to produce algorithm to improve laser performance or business improvement.

  • Daily tasks include data extraction from the SQL databases and write Python code to develop an algorithm.
  • Test the algorithm when completed.
  • Design data applications, logic flows, and derive work estimates.
  • Propose innovative ways to look at problems including, but not limited to, data mining, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques, validating along each step of the way.
  • Utilize TIBCO Spotfire and Denodo Data Virtualization to generate production level business intelligence tools.Augment Spotfire development and execute the entire dashboard development life cycle (from requirements analysis to dashboard prototyping, establishing data sources using the data virtualization model, implementing security requirements and beta testing), and aligning with IT to implement the entire solution into a production environment.
  • Assist in providing machine learning expertise and implementation of big data techniques (PySpark), and ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Develop unit test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs, conducting quality assurance activities like peer code reviews.

Education

  • Requires minimum Bachelors’ degree in Data Science or Statistic.Master’s preferred.

Experience

  • At least one year of relevant work related experience with minimum Master’s degree.At least 5 years of relevant, work related experience with a Bachelors.
  • Good Python or R, SQL scripting skills and experience. Other languages acceptable Java etc.Spotfire is a plus.
  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Ability to quickly process and analyze large data sets from variable sources, including data translation, statistical analysis, and effective reporting through written and/or graphical formats.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to cross functional boundaries to build relationships with all areas in the company, to understand and reconcile higher level company and customer needs.
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic e-mail systems.
