Multi e-Beam Inspection tools are part of ASML’s holistic lithography portfolio. ASML has an Electron Optical competence center in Delft, with multi-disciplinary teams, where we combine Research with Development & Engineering and deliver modules and system designs for the Multi e-Beam Inspection products.

Job Mission

We are looking for an experienced design engineer who can join one of our teams focused on data path systems. Together with the team and starting off from a few requirements on our product roadmap you conceptualize and deliver data path designs and solutions. These solutions enable system engineering to make decisions for our next generation tools, or enable design engineers or suppliers to complete detailed designs. The resulting equipment will be used in production environments, so manufacturability, cost efficiency and reliability of your proposals are important aspects.

Job Description

At ASML-Delft we focus on development of electron-optical inspection tools. These tools generate vast amounts of data every second. This data needs to be captured, transported, processed and interpreted. We operate in a cost-competitive market, demanding fast iterations and high quality, so the solutions we look for are on the cutting edge of technology. In this challenging environment we need you to:
- Translate requirements and high level specifications on a product roadmap to a reliable system design or data path design proposals.
- Propose cost driven data path architectures, simulate end-to-end data path performance, validate design assumptions. Making trade-offs between software and hardware architecture options and finding clever ways of processing large data streams.
- Actively participate in design processes and collaborate with experts in the fields of electrical and software engineering and with external suppliers.
- Operate as a team-player in cross-functional teams.
- Deliver documentation required to manufacture and test the modules that result from your design work..


You have a MSc or PhD in Data Science, Electrical Engineering or Applied Mathematics.


- You have a minimum of 5 year of relevant working experience.
- You have experience with selecting computer architectures for high performance computing and you have demonstrated experience with implementing different processing architectures, CPUs, FPGAs and/or GPUs.
- You have experience with data analysis, simulations and modeling.
- You show strong skills in technical writing, communication with stakeholders
- Any prior experience with defect inspection is a plus..

Context of the position

ASML’s Development & Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the specification, design and realization of all products in the ASML portfolio and has a department in Delft.
Within the D&E sector, our department is responsible for functions, modules, technical competences and qualification tools for inspection equipment, in particular multi-beam electron microscopes.
