Job Mission

You will be responsible for the group members in relation to skills and competences, allocation towards project /product development.

You should be able to coach software engineers, software architects, team leads, project leads in creating team plans and organize the development team in a motivated, efficient software production machine using the ‘we can do’ mentality.

All produced software within the group is approved by the Group Leader before integration according the ASML quality standard and processes. Part of the qualification is executed by external parties which is supervised by the group leader. Reporting will be done towards the Department Manager.

Job Description

In the position of Group Leader, you and your teams are key contributors to the development of software in ASML’s lithographic products.

Specifically, you:

  • Lead the group (typically around 25 people) and hire, coach and instruct team members. Define and assign targets, evaluates priorities, solves problems, monitors budgets.
  • Take care that interaction and stakeholder management with the diverse and relevant parties (research, multidisciplinary D&E groups, CS and customers) is in place.
  • Manage multiple long-term farmout teams on capacity, capabilities, quality and budgets.
  • Ensure that the group has a balanced focus on providing long and short term solutions and contribute to the definition and implementation of departmental policy and departmental planning, including personnel, budgets, investments, resources and methods etc.
  • Be the co-owner of the development and maintenance of technology roadmaps. You ensure the availability and adoption of best known methods, standards and tooling. You facilitate an effective learning feedback cycle and manage the relations with other competence owners in and outside ASML.
  • In cooperation with the department manager and ART-management, you are responsible for the planning and allocation of your group members to the various project activities.
  • Ensure quality aspects are met and non-quality is addressed via learning cycles / feedback loop.

Education

Bachelor or master degree in Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Engineering and a background in software development in a technical environment.

Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant leadership experience in a technical software development or integration working environment, preferably as group manager.
  • Knowledge of software development is a must.
  • Affinity with managing integral business processes in fast growing and dynamic business environments.

  • Ability to provide technical direction, motivate and convince a team of professional designers.
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent social, coordination and communication skills.
  • Pragmatic attitude.

  • Experience of Agile/scrum methodology and practices in large scale development preferable.

Context of the position

Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the development of ASML products. Within this sector the department Software Infrastructure & Computer Systems (SICS) is responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the hardware and software platform that runs the software of the complex lithographic machines.

Within the SICS department the Operating Systems group is responsible for designing, implementing and deploying Operating System and Storage solutions for ASML’s products.
