ASML’s Risk and Business Assurance department, in particular the Internal Control sub department, is responsible to drive sustainable and cost effective internal control on a worldwide basis. You will be part of a team that connects to ASML’s sectors and translates complex internal control challenges to simple solutions. You help the business in managing their risks and you will ensure that proper controls are embedded in the end to end processes in a dynamic and constantly changing environment. Internal Control focusses on the broad business wide risks and controls, in which IT application controls are a critical element.
As Internal Control Expertise Manager, you will bring hands-on and pragmatic internal control and IT application control expertise, and the know how to communicate/translate control requirements to the business.
The Internal Control Expertise Manager is responsible to design and implement effective, proven concepts of internal controls and IT application controls to support our operational managers with sound decision making and assist us to optimize processes. The Expertise Manager connects to ASML’s process owners and other stakeholders of these processes and explains complex risk and control topics in business language in order to support proper decision making. You drive internal control in a dynamic, IT focused and changing environment and maintain internal control frameworks for ASML worldwide.
The key responsibilities are:
·Drive and manage internal control for one or several end-to-end processes and compliance areas;
·Design and implement effective, proven concepts of internal controls and IT application controls to support ASML to optimize processes;
·Gain an in-depth understanding of the business and IT processes and define the relevant financial, IT, operational and compliance risks and controls;
·Setup and maintain a professional relationship with the key stakeholders within the relevant processes;
·Define and participate in business projects that impact internal control and the control framework and through workshops define the appropriate risks & controls to ensure the integrity of the processes;
·Manage internal control deficiencies when / where incurred and ensure that deficiencies are timely resolved by the organization;
·Identify and drive opportunities in the organization to improve internal control and optimal use of application controls in business processes; and
·Translate process descriptions into efficient segregation of duties that are manageable by the business and identify high risk authorizations for the assigned end-to-end processes.
Master degree in Economics or Information Systems with completed RE and / or RA
·5-10 years relevant experience in finance or auditing (preferably with experience in the area of IT);
·Comparable internal control experience in an international environment or alternatively experience in audit, IT audit, risk management or internal audit experience at one of the big 4 audit firms;
·Internal control and/or internal audit experience in a complex, international and non-financial service environment;
·Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and COSO is preferred; and
·SAP knowledge including SAP application control and SAP access rights is required.

Context of the position
The Internal Control Manager reports to the Director Internal Control.
As ASML is a listed company in both the US (NASDAQ) as well as in the Netherlands (AEX), compliance is crucial. This makes this position challenging, complex and crucial within ASML.
ASML’s Risk and Business assurance (RBA) department provides the company state-of-art expertise, insights and assurance, which enables ASML to achieve its objectives, while managing business risks in a responsible way. We do this by identifying, analyzing and evaluating different types of risks together with the business in proactive, effective and efficient way, thereby guaranteeing business continuity, protecting our assets and maximizing ASML’s value creation.
Internal control, within the RBA department, is embedded in ASML to achieve objectives and sustain and improve performance. It enables ASML to effectively and efficiently adapt to changing environments, mitigate risks to acceptable levels and support decision making in the organization.
It is our aim to support the process owners and compliance area owners in achieving and retaining end-to-end process control by providing smart Internal Control solutions. It is our goal to support the organization achieving its objectives thereby preventing unwanted surprises, ensuring compliance and improving end-to-end control. We achieve this by acting as a pro-active, involved and trusted advisor on Internal Control solutions for the end-to-end process owners and compliance area owners.
