ASML US brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler Arizona, San Jose and San Diego California, Wilton Connecticut, and Hillsboro Oregon.
In the software research and development (R&D) team, you will be a key member to develop high quality software and contribute to all phases of the development process from designing to release. You will be responsible for independently developing and testing the algorithms and turning general requirement definitions into functioning modules. A good candidate should exhibit strategic thinking, be self-motivated, and be collaborative with team members.
As a staff software engineer focusing on mask and optical simulations, you will develop features and functionalities based on the industry trend and the customers’ requirements for the modeling engine used widely in other lithographic applications. Especially you will work on electromagnetic computation engines used in mask simulations. You are expected to have an electromagnetics and optics, semiconductor physics, electrical engineering, or related background, along with programming skills in C/C++ and Python. You are responsible for software design, software performance improvement, and code maintenance. You will work closely with product engineer and software quality assurance teams.
PhD or Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or related areas. (PhD degree is preferred).

·Five or more years of experience in C/C++, Python, and/or other object-oriented software development
·Solid understanding in data structures and algorithms
·Experience in optical imaging and signal processing
·Familiar with SQL, UNIX/Linux environment, and scripting languages
·Experience in developing and debugging multi-threaded/parallel applications is a plus
·Experience in image processing, computational geometry, large data application, and high performance computing is a good plus
·Knowledge in semiconductor lithography and integrated circuit design is a good plus
·Strong verbal and written communication skills
