Job Mission

The Production Logistics Manager is key to managing and developing staff who are responsible for the movement of products through the production and internal/external logistics cycle to support internal and external customer requirements while meeting cost and schedule expectations.The teams involved in this process are the Production Planning and Material Handling groups.The Production Logistics Manager directs the daily activities of personnel engaged to manage the production schedule, manage labor loading and capacity requirements while coordinating production plans to ensure materials are provided according to schedule.They will support resolution of material shortage risk, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions to the factory in an effort to support demand from internal and external customers.They develop and maintain business models and best practices to justify manpower, space, and capital requirements in a fast paced NPI environment.

Job Description

  • Responsible for supervising and ensuring execution of Production Planning and Material Handling activities
  • Responsible for the monitoring of Production Schedules, Raw Material, WIP, Production Work Order Variances and Finished Goods for financial tracking purposes and in support of company goals.
  • Exercises high degree of discretion and judgment, establishes priorities and delegates tasks to lower-level support personnel.
  • Negotiates, approves, and prioritizes production schedules based on demand requirements, new product introduction, equipment capacity and materials supply with Manufacturing Management Team.
  • Develops and drives Controls and team KPIs which to measure and monitor service levels and lead to improved performance of Production Logistics activities
  • Manages these (KPIs) including actions with clear deadlines when team is not meeting targets on a daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis depending on the KPI
  • Drives the development activity of the Production Planning and Material Handling teams to support professional growth and career succession.
  • Uses outstanding leadership abilities to select, develop, inspire and evaluate teams and individuals to achieve and maintain world class performance.
  • Partners with Training and Development team to identify knowledge gaps and create training material and roadmaps to increase employee skillset
  • Conducts regular one on one meetings and performance reviews with direct employees to provide coaching and feedback
  • Identifies personnel resource requirements and makes staffing recommendations to senior management
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Production Management or related business or technical degree, followed by a minimum of (10) years of professional experience with at least (2) years in a leadership role, in the position offered or related capacities.APICS certification and/or Six Sigma Certification a plus

Experience

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of MRP, JIT, Kanban Lean Manufacturing and supply versus demand theories .
  • Experience in Manufacturing and Planning modules in SAP environment or similar ERP System (SAP, Oracle, BAAN, etc) preferred
  • Ability to manage the translation and statistical analysis of data, and effectively make recommendations to influence business practices
  • Advanced knowledge of MS suite of products such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on coaching and mentoring of direct employees
