Job Mission

Within Applications, the HMI products provide our customers with the possibility to measure the performance of their manufacturing processes. Our single- and multi-beam inspection systems bring huge benefits to our customers and the use of our products is increasing fast. A team of about 200 software developers works together with application engineers, process experts and support specialists to develop our unique market leading systems. Development is largely done in C# /.NET and our applications run in a Windows environment.

Within software development, the HMI DevOps team is responsible for providing a state-of-the-art development environment. Consisting of both IT engineers and development engineers, the team combines the knowledge of our internal IT infrastructure, development tools and modern development practices. The HMI DevOps team has a high impact on the effectiveness and productivity of the 200 developers. Its goal is to continuously optimize the software development, releasing and deployment cycle. Activities range widely; development tooling configuration, setting up/enhancing CI/CD pipelines, maintenance, support and application life cycle management.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

As an architect in the HMI DevOps Infra team, you ensure that our tooling and CI/CD pipelines are designed optimally across the different development environments. Specific in the area of Software Test framework and automation, software build, VDI and cloud platform. As entrepreneur you drive the change with our developers to an Automated software test solution, by discussing the requirements, create designs and guide the roll out. Next tot this we continuously want to improve our software build system and cloud facilities. We are in the middle of a migration from on premises solutions to cloud (Azure). But with a cloud native mindset, automation and containerization are key topics.

  • Have up-to-date knowledge of modern CI/CD approaches and related technologies
  • Are able to describe the devops architecture in a communicable way
  • pro-actively look for architecture level improvements and prepare them for evaluation by the HMI DevOps teams
  • Create and align the devops architecture roadmap
  • Create uniformity where possible, define dedicated solutions where necessary
  • Actively seek collaboration between stakeholders

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or software engineering

Experience

  • Min. 8 years of relevant working experience of which at least 4 as an Ci/CD / DevOps architect

Extensive experience in:

  • Ci/CD / DevOps activities and architectures.
  • Software test framework and automation
  • Infrastructure as code, both on premises and cloud infrastructures

Context of the position

This position is located on-site in San Jose, CA .It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. (Important to insert additional onsite language specific to the role: i.e., inspection, specific training and supervision, etc.)

A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
