Introduction to the job
The mission of an Electron Optics Engineer is to overcome the challenges of semiconductor metrology and inspection. As an Electron Optics Engineer, you will play a key role in concept design and evaluation of e-beam metrology and inspection systems.
Role and responsibilities
Make conceptual electron optical design of scanning electron microscope for next generation e-beam metrology and inspection systems.
Simulate electron optical properties and performances of electron optics systems, and optimize design to meet system performance requirements. This includes simulation of electron source and electron optics column. Make detailed simulation and design reports.
Define requirements for electronic modules controlling the electron optics system based on simulation.
Design control methods for electron optical component.
Evaluate electronic and mechanical tolerance of electron optics system.
Develop new ideas to overcome design bottlenecks limiting the electron optical performance of the system.
Provide support to system integration team in troubleshooting for root causes.
Provide support to application engineers in developing new applications, live demonstration and result analysis.
Designing experiments for evaluating electron optics performance in system platform. Analyze data and characterize resolution, probe current, distortion, and other optical characteristics.
Provide input to system specification, system error budget and interfaces.
Education and experience
Master’s degree or above in physics, electron optics, applied physics or engineering.
Strong analytical and critical thinking ability.
Strong English communication skills – both written and oral, ability to influence.
Knowledge of charged particle optics and electron source theory. Hands-on experience in electron optics simulation tools.
Hands-on experience in Python or Matlab.
Hands-on experience in 3D electrostatic and magnetic system simulation tools such as COMSOL.
Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: scanning electron microscopy, detector, e-beam metrology and inspection systems, vacuum systems, high voltage.
