This position will require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the us to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

The Research Scientist SEM Overlay metrology is expected to perform feasibility studies supporting SEM (scanning electron microscope) overlay metrology roadmaps, such that investigating new image processing algorithms, performing error budget break-down on the key performance indicators, searching optimal solutions for customer use cases. In this role you will:

  • Investigate, develop and evaluate novel image processing methods to push the envelope in SEM overlay performance
  • Perform error budget break-down on the key performance indicators, including precision, accuracy, tool matching
  • Define and execute feasibility test plan of new overlay metrology application
  • Analyze the feasibility test data, and conclude the findings and recommend the new features for next generation product.
  • Work with field teams and customers to ensure that SEM overlay metrology product high customer value by translating feedback and requests into new product features and improvements
  • Search optimal solution for the customer use cases
  • Work with the marketing team to predict, prepare for, and leverage emerging technology trends

Education and experience

  • Minimum of a Master’s and 2 years of experience, or a Ph.D.
  • Related fields such as Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical or any technical area is a plus for candidates, including IC manufacturing, semiconductor process technology, e-beam inspection/metrology, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on image processing skill is required.
  • Be able to code the image processing algorithm using one of programming languages, such as Python, C/C++, Matlab, Java, OpenCV
