Introduction to the job

As a Project Lead, you will take a pivotal role as a linking within Design & Engineering (D&E) team and between related sectors (including Customer, Marketing, Factory & Field, and the Supply Chain), with a primary focus on Product Safety and Compliance. Using your personal and project management skills, you will work closely together with the design engineers, internal & external stakeholders to ensure the new products developed meet industrial safety standards (in Product Safety, Product Compliance area), and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

Develop and execute Product Safety and Compliance plans across hardware products;
Manage a team of Product Safety and Compliance engineers as well as D&E design engineers;
Interact closely with cross-functional teams such as electrical and mechanical design team, system integration, Quality, Reliability and Customer/Factory Operations;
Key point of contact with product development team and product compliance teams to ensure hardware product meet safety standards and safety requirement for our customer;
Oversee SRA, FMEA outcome from safety & compliance / design team to ensure that safety hazardous meets all safety compliance requirements and manage risks in product safety & compliance sign-off processes;
Guide product development teams on design for safety and ensuring designs meet all applicable internal safety specifications and processes;
Translate product safety requirements into design requirements for design engineers and provide product safety technical guidance;
Lead and contribute to product safety and compliance investigations (internal/external) and ensure root cause analysis and corrective action plans are implemented in accordance with the product safety and compliance process;
Review, approve or modify changes to products, processes, and documentation that could impact product safety and compliance.

Education and experience

Bachelor or Master degree in Process Safety / Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering or Applied Physics or any other technical oriented study with relevant experience in the field of (technical) Product Safety and Compliance.

1-3 years of Experience in product safety and compliance within a complex international high-tech manufacturing and customer care environment;
Experience in one or more of the following fields: product safety, product compliance, industrial engineering, quality management, product development of technically complex product;
Knowledge of semiconductor equipment safety standards, such as SEMI S2, IEC, UL, NFPA, OSHA, EMC, and other standards applicable to semiconductor manufacturing;
Knowledge of Safety Risk Assessment methodology, Failure Model Effective Analysis methodology;
Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety in semiconductor fabrication manufacture is a plus;
