Introduction to the job

ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lithography systems that help enable Moore’s Law and the creation of increasingly powerful and capable electronic devices. At our San Diego location we are renowned for developing both deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography light sources and next generation extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources. We are a multinational company with over 70 locations in 16 countries, headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Release Train Engineer / Project Leader (Semiconductor Equipment) supporting solution development and implementation on the product. The objective is to ensure design concepts can be developed to address the undesired Tin debris and deliver robust product solutions.

The main responsibility for the Release Train Engineer (RTE) is to ensure that the Agile Release Train (ART – team-of-agile-teams) performs in a most optimal way, measures and reports on the performance and identifies improvements for the ART itself. In the end, the RTE is responsible for delivery excellence within the ART.

This roll is a hybrid including both RTE and Project Leader responsibilities.

Job Description - RTE Components

  • Optimize flow by tracking, reporting, measuring ART performance and installing continuous integration/delivery.
  • Ensure optimal guidance and excellence for the teams by coaching and developing the Scrum Masters and align the way of working across teams.
  • Ensure fast delivery of the ART by creating transparency on and removing ART impediments and ART dependencies.
  • Ensure delivery excellence by keeping the ART stable and shielding it from external interferences.
  • Provide analyses of current (work)processes, evaluate bottlenecks and advice regarding improvements in processes and procedures, and ensure implementation after approval (through initiating and leading projects), in order to contribute to the optimization of (work)processes within the ART.
  • Minimize blockers for ART progress by managing the risks.

As RTE, you are responsible to ensure that the Agile Release Train (ART) is setup in the most optimal way for fast and high quality value delivery. Some of the key challenges of this role is to:

  • Ensure that the ART stays on track with their deliverables (e.g. manage escalations / changing priorities).
  • Stakeholders of the ART are being managed.
  • Provide full transparency on what is going on in the ART.
  • Ensure teams stay engaged.
  • Manage the cadence and facilitate rituals.
  • Manage issues impacting ART and its deliverables.

Key decisions for the RTE are:

  • Set the cadence of the ART; when are the ceremonies.
  • How do we synchronize the teams and their deliverables.
  • How do we organize the setup of the ART.
  • How do we manage issues on ART level.
  • Work with POs to ensure proper priorities and realistic planning, balance interests multiple programs.

Project Leader responsibilities:

  • Oversee Integration activities of product modules delivered by projects outside of San Diego by closely coordinating with the key project stakeholders.
  • Use ASML standard tools and methodologies to report, investigate and resolve technical problems in the design and validation phase.
  • Lead issue management to solution for Integration, Factory and Field system escalations.
