The Wilton Factory Re-use Program is responsible for the re-use of parts, tools & packaging materials in order to recycle and repurpose field returns, eliminate waste, reduce costs and accelerate learning. The As New Programs is responsible for executing reconditioning activities according to plan and learning from the reconditioned parts and enable the feedback loop to new designs. The As New Program will build the competencies and knowledge on configuration management of field returns, rework process definition, as well as dismount and reconditioning execution. The focus will also be on expanding the program through identifying additional opportunities to salvage, repurpose or reclaim additional materials.

In this dynamic position, you will facilitate the execution of the As New Program on large modules within the Wilton Factory cleanroom. This position will be a key link between the As New Program, D&E, manufacturing, production planning, warehouse logistics and the global X-sector re-use organization. For the first year, you will be engaged in development, layout and execution of dedicated space for reuse activities in the existing Wilton clean room, with the long term goal of designing and executing a potential off-site Global Reuse Center (GRC) in Newton CT. This GRC will focus on dismantle execution and engineering development of new reclaim/reuse activities. You will be responsible for large module returns and dismantle and reconditioning activities to the following product lines: EUV Main Body Top Module, Reticle Handler and the DUV Reticle Stage.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the execution of the reuse program within the Wilton Factory cleanroom. You will identify and improve process to facilitate reuse activities and will work with cross functional teams to expand the program. You will be working closely together with the execution team and your counterparts within manufacturing, logistics, D&E, sourcing, CS and SCM. You will be reporting to the As New Program Manager in the Wilton Factory Engineering department. This job is first shift, located in the first year at Wilton, CT with the potential to transfer to Newtown, CT. This is a cleanroom position, with about 50% of activities inside the cleanroom.

As a Reuse Production engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Factory layout of the new Reuse Workcenter.
  • Configuration management of returned and outgoing product.
  • Execution support including identifying work packages/work instructions for tear down activities.
  • Identifying and training technician process expertise/skills to support the workcenter.
  • Inspection and disposition of materials.
  • Cycle time of the reuse process, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Feedback and collaboration with D&E on inspection criteria.
  • Drive expansion of the program.

Configuration Management:

  • Own the configuration of inbound, returned equipment by reviewing and correcting the equipment structure in multiple SAP and computer systems.
  • Establish and execute the processes to ensure correct configuration.
  • Approximately 50-70% of first year activities.

Execution support:

  • Collaborate with workcenter production engineers on which components from returns can be reused.
  • Work with D&E to develop concise evaluation criteria.
  • Be first contact for issues during execution of re-use activities within Wilton Factory.
  • Involve D&E counterparts if required to solve issues during execution.
  • Track cycle times on as new execution and develop improvement plans.
  • Specify manufacturing requirements for execution and support.
  • Approximately 20-30% of first year actives.

Program Expansion:

  • Participate in layout and development of as new floorspace within Wilton Factory.
  • Participate in investigations on how to re-use/repair additional parts.
  • Identify product lines/tooling/layout/process flow for off-site repair facility.
  • Work with facilities to develop layouts for the Global Reuse Center.
  • Approximately 10-20% of first year activities.

Enable feedback loop to D&E (long term):

  • Establish close working relation with X-sector peers in DE core team.
  • Share learnings from execution with D&E core team.
  • Support building competence on parts failure, reliability, wear, aging & lifetime.
  • Maximizing repair/re-use and reduce scrap.
  • Improved designs for lifetime and re-use.
  • Develop improved WoW, GIDs’.
  • Embedding product learning and manufacturability in design and PGP process.

Support bottom up initiatives (long term):

  • Be first contact for bottom up re-use ideas and translate into proposal for intake if applicable.

Education and experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of 2 or more competences within PE/PI or TS (EDEV, MDEV, Machine Conditioning, Optics).
  • Extensive network within Manufacturing and D&E.
  • Passion for recycling and re-use on a global scale.
  • Process-minded with the ability to work within complex, and at times, rigid SAP structures.
  • Obsessively accurate with regard to bill of material structures.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities and creates solutions anywhere in the value stream.
  • Ability to convince and drive for required deliverables in x-sector setting.
  • Self-sufficient in finding the right stakeholders in the organization.
  • Able to support pilot activities, workspace development and program expansion.
