Job Mission

ASML is seeking an entry level Software Engineer with skills in database development, algorithm optimization and data analytics. You will join the Advanced Development Center in Wilton, Connecticut - A Research and Development team focused on proto-typing of next generation wafer/reticle clamping systems. The main job function is to develop software and database solutions in support of our development and manufacturing operations that solve challenging engineering problems associated with achieving nanometer scale precision.

In this role you will focus on characterizing, testing and modeling surface phenomena for wafer table product development from concept through prototyping to industrialization.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). As a condition of employment, qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Job Description

The main focus of this position will be

  • Develop software in a cross-functional software development team to solve any engineering challenges we encounter related to chemical/material aspects of design/manufacturing processes for optical/ceramic substrates to achieve the precision and life time performance at the sub-nm scale
  • Collaborate with material scientists, optical engineers, metrologists and physicists to develop software solutions for our process and metrology data collection and analysis
  • Create and maintain database solutions for engineering and manufacturing process and metrology data (e.g. Interferometers, WLI, AFM, Tribometer, etc.)
  • Use Machine Learning (ML) as appropriate to improve the effectiveness of our data analytics or manufacturing processes
  • Perform data analysis of surface characterization or metrology measurements and correlate with modeling results
  • Clearly communicate progress and status of ongoing technical activities to senior management
  • Support preparation of design reviews for the development team
  • Prepare engineer documentation (e.g. Element Performance Specifications, Element Design Specifications, Test Performance Specification, Test Analysis Reports, etc.) and release the documents by following change control process
  • Write engineering procedures and train technicians to efficiently transfer the developed software to manufacturing

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree

Experience

  • Minimum qualifications – the hired candidate must possess all of the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for the position including:
    • Minimum # of years of relevant experience (see above in education)
    • Multi Paradigm programming experience, Functional + Object Oriented in one or more of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, MATLAB (including coursework/internship/co-op experience)
    • SQL Database experience (including coursework/internship/co-op experience)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering with 1+ year of industry software development experience preferrable
  • Experience with MSSQL preferred, MySQL/ORACLE a plus
  • Experience with NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB)
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated unit and regression tests
  • Experience collaborating on a software team using code repository and version control tools (e.g. Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Experience with advanced data structures, code optimization and software architecture design
  • Experience collaborating on large software projects
  • Experience with ML
  • Experience on algorithm development and optimization
  • Experience working on established code bases
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Work in a fast-paced office environment, including working in a standing or seated position for long periods sometimes exceeding 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
